Censorship: If you can't beat 'em... ban 'em.

Today I read an article (written by a conservative Christian woman) asserting that the government should ban the "evil mass media" to keep children safe from obscenity. I hate people who think this way. The government was not created to ban shit you disagree with. It was created to protect the collective interests of the American people.

So the bright idea of the day: Parent your children. If you want to censor your kids, you have that right. But please, use V-chip technology and parental controls to keep them from watching stuff you disagree with. It's a lot easier than lobbying congress, and it won't piss off the liberals.

People often project their morality onto others, and see it as their duty to protect us from their perceived harm. When people like this are given power and means, they implement censorship. It happens on a local level, like a newsletter editor only publishing like-minded letters, to a national level with a media that distorts the truth to protect the ruling elites.
